Welcome to the Fine Arts Department of Morningside Academy. Our award-winning program consists of numerous class offerings in music, art, and drama. Students receive an age-appropriate background in the arts beginning in Kindergarten. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, there is a place for every student to participate, develop, and use your God-given gifts and talents.

Philosophy of the Fine Arts

The fine arts have been recognized for centuries as a basic educational discipline. Contemporary research confirms the value of learning skills and developing creativity through the involvement in listening, moving, singing, playing, creating and participating in the arts. As a school that integrates biblical truths into the curriculum, we recognize that the Scriptures present the fine arts as an integral part of our total development and worship of God.

The Fine Arts Department strives to instill within each student an appreciation of these disciplines as a gift from God to be used for His glory.

Congratulations to the High School Choir for being selected to be a part of Disney's Candlelight Celebration Choir! 

Our drama program gives students an exciting array of experiences and training in many facets of the dramatic arts, including acting, improvisation, writing and directing.  Offered as an extracurricular activity at the elementary level, students begin to learn the basic fundamentals of acting and use their talents while competing in the Junior Fine Arts Competition.  Our upper school drama curriculum begins with Middle School Drama and continues in High School. Students enjoy performing in venues from in-class productions to middle school and high school chapels. Students discover how dramatic storytelling reflects the beauty of God’s ultimate story, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Students are given many opportunities to cultivate their dramatic talents for God’s glory.

The vocal program begins in Kindergarten with general music classes.  Various levels of choir are available for both upper and lower school students and each level gives vocal students ample opportunity to develop and use their God-given talents in performance and worship. Past highlights include performances on the radio for Christmas Kids, Music USA, and the Walt Disney World resort.

Morningside Academy offers all students the opportunity to play a string instrument. Kindergarten students will be able to sign up to participate in these classes within the first couple weeks of school. If you choose to sign your child up for this amazing opportunity, please take a few minutes to work with him/her on the violin each day. The orchestra program offers classes in string instrument instruction that begins in the 4th grade and continues through the 12th grade. This highly awarded program gives our string students the opportunity to learn and develop their skills and use them in worship, community outreach, competition and performance.
