Dorran Ruben Russell

Dorran Ruben Russell has been head of Morningside Academy's Art program for three years. With over 300 paintings in private collections worldwide, as a master painter, he brings 35 years of award-winning artistic design and painting expertise to the school. Mr. Russell is also the owner of Visually Unique Arts Inc. and is a graduate of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and Indian River State College with degrees in Commercial Art and Digital Design Media.
 
In 2019, Mr. Russell returned from the Jr. FACCS regional competition with 47 ribbons of 49 entrants.  29 went on to the state competition. 26 of those placed first and second.  His students helped Morningside Academy achieve the High Points Winner trophy. Students participated in a variety of categories including oil painting, acrylic painting, water color, graphite drawing, clay and wooden sculpture.

In 2019, four of Mr. Russell's students sold their art for not less than $100 each.
 
In 2018, Mr. Russell took 70 Morningside students' artwork to the annual FACCS Florida state competition. 32 took first place, seven achieved second place and one held third place. 
 
Students are taught a Renaissance curriculum that emphasizes fine arts up through the period of 1925 cubism. Mr. Russell also helps students develop self-confidence through art in a creative atmosphere, while demonstrating Godly character and Biblical values.

Dorran Russell is also head of Morningside Church's stage aesthetics. He designs and creates stage layouts for events, themes, holidays and productions.
