Large Group Experience
Conversation, musical experiences, listening to stories and poems, acting out stories and playing with others are experienced through our centers.
Small Group Experiences
Each child chooses an activity from a variety of activities such as looking at books, listening to tapes, building with blocks, using creative materials, painting at an easel, or playing with puppets.
Outdoor Play
Using playground equipment and playing outdoor games with others are experienced through equipment and outdoor toys.
Chapel Time
Once a week, all classes enjoy chapel time together where they sing songs, listen to Bible stories, and spend time sharing and giving back to God.
Spiritual Development
Children grow in knowledge of God. They learn God made the world and cares for them. They learn to be kind and respect other people.
Music Class
Children have the opportunity to express themselves through song and experience the joy that music can bring. This is also a chance to get all their “wiggles” out! Children enjoy learning new and fun songs that they will remember for a lifetime. Throughout the year, children will learn music for different events: Christmas Program, Graduation, etc. Classes are taught every Thursday.
Spanish Class
Teaches children the basic foundations of the Spanish language, including numbers, colors, basic words greetings.
We believe that putting discipline back into the classroom can solve many concerns of education. It is our hope to employ a faculty who cares enough to discipline its students with consistency, firmness, kindness, and most of all, love
Please note the difference between discipline and punishment:
Punishment is something you do to a child,
Discipline is something you do for a child.
Punishment is directed at the individual,
Discipline is directed at the behavior of the individual.
A nutritious snack will be served once in the morning before lunch. A fun snack, i.e. cookies, potato chips, ice cream, will be served in the afternoon after nap. Extended day students enjoy a lunch period: the parent provides lunch. We encourage parents of children with severe allergies to send allergy-approved snacks to the school.
Supervised school-sponsored community activities are held to help children learn about their environment and the community. These activities are held during Summer camp only.
Children enrolled in the extended day program are required to bring their lunch from home in a standard-size lunchbox (paper and plastic bags are not permitted). Include eating utensils, napkins, and straws when needed. Glass containers are not permitted. Keep sweets to a minimum. Send a drink, but do not send sodas, or carbonated drinks. We strongly recommend an ice pack be placed in the lunch box. We cannot heat or refrigerate items.
Breakfast should be given to the child before they arrive at school. They will not be permitted to eat breakfast once they have arrived. We serve morning snack between 9:30 a.m-10:30 a.m. Items from home may not be eaten during morning or afternoon snack. IF a student has special dietary needs, a physician’s statement is required and the parent must supply appropriate snacks.
The K4 classes have a graduation ceremony in May. Graduation is an important event for the four year olds. They perform a music program and march to a pomp and circumstance. They receive a preschool diploma.
We have many toys and equipment here at the Preschool. Do not bring toys from home. Show and tell is on Friday. Toys must be brought to school on Friday only. Although we try to protect each toy, we cannot be held responsible for the breakage or loss. Each toy should be marked with the child’s name. We ask that only cubby-sized toys be brought unless special arrangements with the teacher. Please do not ask the teacher to tell your child he may not bring a toy to class.
Little Friends Preschool follows St. Lucie County School Board for dismissal for bad weather unless the reason for closing does not affect our campus. LIKE us on FACEBOOK for the most up to date and accurate information. We also indicate on our school voicemail if we will be closed for any reason. Always dress your child in appropriate clothing for the prevailing weather condition (layer dressing is recommended). Children need to bring or wear sweaters or jackets when it is cold. Please be sure to write your child’s name on the inside label of his/her sweater or jacket.
